Germany’s Inflation Rate Rises Again in September
"Following a period of decreasing inflation since the start of the year, an increase in the rate of inflation was registered for the second consecutive month," noted Destatis chief Ruth Brand.
She further explained that the cost of services continued to climb at an above-average pace.
Meanwhile, the drop in energy prices had lost much of its momentum, playing a smaller role in curbing inflation than in earlier months.
In comparison to September of the previous year, energy prices saw a modest decline of 0.7%, while the cost of food rose by 2.1%.
When excluding food and energy, the core inflation rate stood at 2.8% in September.
The cost of services rose 3.4% from the same period a year prior, whereas goods experienced a more modest increase of 1.4%.
Month over month, consumer prices across the country edged up by 0.2%.
